Not everyone is as distracted as I am from the problems of the world by a bunch of famous rappers sharing “poems” back and forth, airing their grievances with each other for public consumption (and ultimately, money).
Without getting all into it, the current feuds in Hip Hop genre remind me to appreciate that in “the entertainment business” we can rightly celebrate people who can consistently make hits, and keep up with the trends and stay on present on the charts. When focusing on music as an art form, we can also celebrate people who only release music when they feel they have something worth sharing, do things that are unexpected, and give the audience what resonates deeply from within, not what people thought and they wanted.
Lately, I haven’t been very interested in sharing a lot of work. I’m bored, and I don’t always feel like I understand the underlying substance of my work. Right now, I want to slow down, and get back to the joy I had when I was new to art. I was searching for a style, I was constantly being inspired by work I admired, and in search of something I could do consistently, I took a lot of chances.
When people ask me what I’m working on, I don’t feel my answers are particularly interesting. I’m experimenting, using the #100dayproject and newsletter to show up consistently show up to a process and seeing where it goes. (Check back here, as I get caught up documenting the progress I’ve made the last few weeks).
I’m looking to get back into all aspects of photography, and intend to share more about the thoughts that are informing my work, and more of the process. My main goal in the moment is to slow down, take more time to learn and explore. Find things that excite me, and enjoy the work of playing my sport.
Other things I want to share:
But First Gratitude… if you think gratitude is something we should have more of in your life, watch this.
Flash Sale - I am sharing 10 - 24”x30” original works available sight unseen for $400 ($450 if shipping is needed). Usually, work this size starts at $900. If you love my work, and trust that you will love what I create, it’s “F*ck Around and Find Out” in the best way possible! Last year, this Flash Sale helped some collectors give my work a new home, so I figured I’d run it back. The discount is for trust.
Consistency - I’m very excited to have kept up with newsletter, and posting on time! Although I got a little behind, I did not completely lose momentum with the #100dayproject. It’s making me want to see more from myself, and pushing me to try new things. “Do one small thing consistently, watch something big happen!”
Thank you for continuing to be here! See you soon.
